My Malaysian Weekend!

Malaysian Weekend

I received a call from Azam of IIR asking for a very big favour. He wanted me to go to Pekan and appear on the Malaysian Weekend programme. I was to speak on Being a Good Leader. So I went because he promised me the moon and the stars and whatever else I want from the galaxy.

The last time I went to Pekan it was almost 20 years ago. So I decided to stay in Kuantan. I have not been well at all so perhaps the sea breeze at Teluk Cempedak will lift up my spirits.

The programme was great and I had the opportunity to meet up with a wonderful asst. producer Aswad and the two bubbly comperes, Farizal and Yasmin. We had a blast! I appeared both on the Saturday and Sunday show.

Above are the pictures!

I cried in her garden (For my friend Nurul)

the morning was bright
the breeze was cool and gentle
many would say it was a beautiful day

a fountain was in the corner
the sound of gushing water was relaxing
the sight and sound were captivating

I sat at the table
tea was served promptly
warm with biscuits

but I, I was grieving
filled with so much sadness
and then, I cried in her garden

My best Hari Raya photo 2008

Last Hari Raya, I had a quiet dinner with the AF5 clan plus Vern and Shasha. It turned out to be not so quiet. We had a blast!

My abah had a hip replacement surgery a month ago. He is fine now. He can walk using the the walker. Last Saturday, Ramdhan and I took him to our kampung in Padang Rengas, Kuala Kangsar. He enjoyed the drive. His sisters and brother in the kampung sat and chatted with him for a few hours. We had goreng ubi and keropok with teh O for tea. He was so happy!

I love my abah.

I'm going to disown
My mom's ex-husband
Soon going to be my ex-father
Don't call me daughter
Because being a father comes with responsibility
And frankly you don't have any
It's not that I hate you
It's just that I don't care about you.

My student wrote this in my poetry class. Sad.

It is all about power.

I am sitting in my office waiting for a student to do her quiz. Feeling lethargic coz' its Saturday. Just read the papers and felt disgusted again about the goings in our beloved country. The "who dunnit episodes" are all over the news again.

We had a great election. People from all over the world congratulated us for being able to up hold democracy. Now the sodomy, anal sex and murder is all over our news paper. Why? My answer is about people who are so power crazy. It is about spoilt "kids" who just want more. Gimme, gimme, gimme! Those who have power want to hold on to it and those without just want it at any cost.

We have a beautiful and lovely country. We have enough to eat and we sleep well at night. We do not want trouble. We need to tell our politician to get on with their work. They are elected to work for us! Not to ruin us.

I pray that tomorrow will be a great and peaceful Sunday. I like to have peace and quiet on my Sundays. I want to have my roti canai and read my Sunday papers and just lepak. I am sure many of you want this too.
